I am interested in investigating community dynamics in coastal marine ecosystems, particularly with respect to community response to stressors related to climate change. Ocean acidification (OA) is predicted to differentially affect many marine organisms and has the potential to dramatically alter community structure and function in the near future. Using both field- and lab-based studies, I plan to investigate the effects of changes in ocean pH and temperature on the keystone intertidal predator Pisaster ochraceus and assess the potential for altered species interactions and community dynamics under future climate scenarios. This work will provide insight into how abiotic changes influence key species interactions and inform predictions of how communities will respond to climate change.
